Delete your Sonje account
App: Sonje (com.sonje.app)
Contact: [CONTACT_EMAIL]
You can delete your Sonje account from inside the app, or request deletion by email if you cannot sign in. This page explains what is deleted and how to ask.
Delete in the app
- Open Sonje and sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Open the online library (student) or the teacher home.
- Tap the overflow menu (⋮).
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the warning and confirm. This cannot be undone.
This permanently deletes your account, your libraries, access codes, access records, reports, blocks, and your photos and audio stored on Sonje. For students, downloads already saved on the device are removed too.
Request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in, email [CONTACT_EMAIL]:
- Use the subject line: Delete my Sonje account.
- Send it from the email address linked to your Google/Sonje account, if possible.
- Include your display name and, if you are a teacher, the name of any library you want removed.
You can also use this email link:
We may ask for additional information to verify that the account belongs to you. We will not ask for your Google password.
What we delete
After we verify your request, we aim to delete:
- your Sonje profile (name, phone number, profile photo, role and student code);
- your online account record in our authentication system, where possible;
- libraries, cards, images and audio you published as a teacher;
- access codes you created;
- online download records linked to your account;
- library reports you submitted and teachers you blocked;
- photos and audio stored on Sonje for your account.
If you are a teacher, deleting your account may remove libraries that students have downloaded or accessed. Students may lose access to those libraries.
What may remain
- Local data on your device. Cards, notes, audio, images, downloaded libraries and settings stay on your phone until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall Sonje.
- Backups. Copies may remain in our backups for a limited period, or in your own Google/Android device backup.
- Legal records. We may keep limited information if required by law or to resolve disputes, prevent fraud or enforce our terms.
- Crash reports. Sentry crash reports are retained according to Sentry's retention settings and are not linked to your learning content.
- Third-party records. Google, WhatsApp, Cloudinary, Supabase and Sentry may keep data under their own policies.
Processing time
We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why.
If you cannot access your email
Contact [CONTACT_EMAIL] and explain the situation. We will try to verify your identity using other information, but we may not be able to delete an account if we cannot confirm ownership.
